The origin of the conversion factor 10.7639

This entire conversion is based on the fact that a foot is exactly 0.3048 meters. This definition was established by an international agreement in 1959. Squaring both sides of this equation allows us to convert between lengths into relationships between areas.

Dividing both sides of the equation by 0.09290304 gives that one square meter is exactly 10.7639104167 square feet, which is equal to the result of dividing 1 by 0.09290304. It's important to note that the area factor 10.7639 is the square of the length factor 3.28084. Conversions of areas are always the squares of the ratios of lengths.
